destination-e
the forum for the e-future.
The last 4 years has shown that most of what has been
proffered as internet advice was internet error.
destination-e provides regular beginner and intermediate
seminars to assist on the journey to our e-future.
destination-e Supporters Include

What is destination-e?
For over two years,
Thinking Internet Management has hosted the Destination-e seminar
program, a forum for the e-future. Thinking's mission is to help
companies establish, develop and maintain successful internet brands.
We help them go from having "just another website" to having
an internet brand presence complete with management of the brand
"voice", "experience" and "audience".
FREE Seminars...
There are two FREE seminar streams: one for Beginners
and an Intermediate series for
those with a fundamental understanding of the internet's potential.
The Beginners stream is based on a highly
successful seminar conducted last year, "From
A Business to E-Business" and will be run on a monthly
basis. This stream is specifically designed to assist corporations who
are currently in the process of moving from the old economy to the
"new" economy. We will talk about how new players in the
online world can better plan their e-future.
In the vast majority of business and domestic markets consumers have
already moved to Destination-e. The challenge for a lot of
corporations is that they have yet to make the journey themselves.
Destination-e is an opportunity to take them on that journey and
ensure our collective expertise offers the highest, most potent wisdom
for them to take control of their e-future.

This issue is at the
forefront of consumer's minds the world over. How do your customers
feel when they visit your website? What impression do you want to
create?
No one wants to live in a world without trust. Without trust, you
potentially face privacy and security issues. These three core values,
privacy, security and trust are all equally relevant in today's world.
No single value stands as more important than the other, but without a
balance, none are achievable.
Privacy should be a right but is often confused with security and
trust.
Security should be a method of establishing privacy but is often
mislabelled as a way of creating trust.
While Trust is an intangible emotion that no level of security or
privacy can guarantee.
As
consumers move through the process of changed purchasing habits, they
look for trust beacons. Few of them consciously interrupt their
journey to investigate security or privacy issues. Most want to trust,
to believe in it unquestioningly and naturally move towards trusted
environments. Social Clubs, religious groups, your local coffee shop
or bar - all these community driven gatherings of people are dependent
on trust.
Our expert panel of barristers, public libertarians, marketers
and sages explored how Privacy, Security and Trust work to build
a better internet environment and a "trusted" online
relationship with your customers.
Privacy,
Security & Trust Test
Why not run this Privacy, Security and Trust
test on your site.
Go to your site and
| a) |
see
if you can find a Privacy Policy easily. |
|
i) |
Can
you understand the contents of the Privacy Policy or was it
written by your legal department late at night?
|
| b) |
look
for any obvious signs that the site has security features. |
|
i) |
If
the site is asking for personal information and/or credit card
details, are you happy about filling in the questions? |
|
ii) |
Do
you know what is going to happen with the information you are
providing? |
|
iii) |
Are
you sure that the information you requested, or order you
placed will be honoured?
|
| c) |
look
for something you can trust - a well-known brand, a street
address, a contact phone number, a company history that could
be checked. |
|
i) |
If
you didn't know your company would you trust it? |
|
ii) |
Could
you check the credentials of your company before you gave out
personal information? |
There are some
obvious solutions to some of these questions, but it is quite often
the intangibles that create the greatest impression. Start getting
some clear direction of where you need to go with "Privacy,
Security & Trust" on your next journey to Destination-e.
